Success!

We'll give you more details later, since right now all we can think and type about is sleep! We are so happy with our final projects and we hope that PoCoMo, Vancouver Fruit Tree, and LMDSS are too!

Goodnight!

Homestretch!

Wow! It's 6:30am already. We have all officially been awake for 24 hours. Guess what we're doing right now? Mocking our awesome creatives for some awesome people!

First though, Stacey needed a power nap!

But ten minutes later Kim was back and we were ready to work. Thanks again to Fedex Office, especially staff Vicki and Akshay for coming through in the clutch for Kim!

Lot's of spray-gluing and cutting though, which you make a point of doing very slowly, and carefully when you haven't slept in 24-hours.

And we're off!

Our fearless leader Kim is off to the printers! Thank you Fedex/Kinkos for being open 24-hours, and for giving us a 35% discount. We can't wait to see the proofs!

We're almost ready to print!

Our goal is to have everything ready and sent off to the printers by 4am! There's a lot of jokes going around the studio about how slow we are because we so tired, so Kim pipes up "Just wait till we have a knife in our hands" How terrible would that be! We spend all this time on great designs only to butcher them in our tired stupor!

Kim get's graby at 3am! Just kidding.

It's so strange being the only ones in the building. The halls are dark and our door is open in an attempt to air out the stench of four girls who haven't showered, and have chowed down on junk food all day.

Haha, busted! This was my attempt at a 10-minute powernap. It didn't go so well, but hey I'm still smilling!

We're getting so close to the end. Can you believe it? We're already into our 20th hour STRAIGHT (which also means we didn't reach our goal of 4am...hmm, let's adjust that to 4:15am.)

LMDSS, PoCoMo, and VFTP we can't WAIT to see you in a few more hours!

I'm hitting the tired wall

Okay, not gonna lie, I'm super tired right now. I have done lunges in the hallway and windmill with my arms to try and work out the big knot that has twisted itself up in my shoulder blade. I'm totally tired, and would totally LOVE to sleep right now, but when I look around the studio and see the really awesome stuff that everyone is working on I can't help but be really excited. I love that we have an opportunity to give back to really great charities!

It's almost meeting time!

Still burning!

Creativity is still burning bright!

Getting a little sleepy

I'm getting a little sleepy! Still plowing on though. We have done some amazing work so far and are excited for 8am! (Partly to show off our amazing work, and partly because that means we can go and sleep!)

Thanks to my hubby Andrew for bringing us some 5-hour energy drinks! I've alredy had mine.

Thanks for support everyone!

Thanks for the coffee!

Thanks Stacey and Keenan for the coffee! (Now stop kissing!)

Just kidding, we love that you can and supported us Keenan! THANK YOU!

We're half way there!

Can you believe it? We've been at this for 12 hours already! Time is flying by, but we feel SO good! All of the charities are on there way to having some awesome new creative work. In 12 hours I can post lots of pictures and brag!

Thanks for all the support everyone! We've loved our visit and cheerleaders. THANK YOU!

P.S. Stacey is on her way to Waves right now to pick up some coffee! Thank you Waves for keeping us awake.

Here is our half-way-high-five!

Working Hard

Wow! 7pm already. It''s dark outside, but we feel warm and cozy all together in our office. The studio continues to work hard, albeit a little slower, but we're plugging away. We are driven by how great everything is turning out. It is even blowing our expectations out of the water! So far we are mainly accident free (Stacey and her big feet might have unplugged Jackelyn's computer...) but we all feel good!

Dinner is Served!

Wow! We have an amazing assortment of sandwiches, soup and salad for dinner. I think we're all pretty excited for the salad since we've been sitting on our butts consuming junk food since 8am this morning!

Thank you so much Edgeceptional Catering for providing dinner for us. http://edgecatering.ca/ Everyone, you need to go to the Edge for breakfast or lunch, I promise you be delighted! By the way, our master webologist, the brilliant Jackelyn Thompson http://getjackedaboutit.ca/ who is helping us out with CreateAthon is also web designer for The Edge.

I love seeing rainbows! Especially on CreateAthon days.

Meeting Time

Nothing gets the juices flowing like talking ideas out! Thanks for all the awesome teamwork. Go CreateAthon!

So much is being accomplished!

Today is flying by! hello? It's 2:15pm already, how did that happen? The crazy part is that I will probably be posting at 2:15am saying the same thing! Alright, time for an update!

Vancouver Fruit Tree! Oh man, I'm am itching to sneak photographs off Stacey's computer to show you. Your new logo and brand are going to be Ah-mazing!

LMDSS! We are going to blow you away with your new website. So clean and user friendly. I can't wait to see your reactions tomorrow. Want a sneak peak? Here you go...good luck guessing what that is!

PoCoMo! Your banner and poster are going to thrill you! I think that is going to convey everything you want it too (while tugging at some heart strings too!)

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to show their support. Moms dropping off chocolates, and clients dropping off Starbucks! We can't tell you how much we love you!

Lunch was amazing!

THANK YOU Bon Chaz! Lunch was delicious. We feel re-fueled and re-energized and ready to keep rocking out some awesome designs.

Hard at work!

We're working hard here folks! Lunch is in 30 minutes and it is graciously provided by Bon Chaz (bonchaz.ca). Three out of the four of us are having Avocado and Brie sandwiches! Yummy.

For the next 21 hours this is our home!

Hey Vancouver Fruit Tree...don't you wish you could see what Stacey's working on?

We love the support!

"I am excited to see the results tomorrow.
Thank you all for this wonderful opportunity"

This was a super nice email that we just received from LMDSS (Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society) http://www.lmdss.com/index.php?id=1 We can't wait to show you the results tomorrow!

From paper to computer we go!

We’ve moved from paper to the computer! We had a brainstorming session about which logo we wanted to develop for the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project, and we narrowed it down to 3! Want to see a section sneak peak of one? Well here you go!  Tell us what think it is. (I bet you'll never guess...but know you'll be wowed!)
Don’t forget you can follow us on twitter too, @flipsidecreate

PoCoMo Knows

"Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine "what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will." - George Bernard Shaw

I just pulled this quote off of the PoCoMo website. http://www.pocomo.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=96&Itemid=54 Very inspiring. We can't wait to create some amazing work that helps further your outreach program!

Also, make sure you check out their awesome song, "PoCoMo Knows": http://www.pocomo.org/

They're EdgeCeptional!

Yay! We won't starve while we work! EdgeCeptional Catering has graciously offered to provide dinner for us. If you haven't tried their salads and sandwiches, you are missing out! I personally recommend the baby spinach, strawberry, mandarin oranges, and goat cheese salad topped with maple glazed pecans, raspberry rosemary vinaigrette, and a breast of salmon on top. Oh my goodness, it’s incredible!

Did you know that they do catering, as well as serve food in their restaurant! Swing by for a lunch one day. You won’t be disappointed! They are located at 2450 Yukon Street, Vancouver.

Thank you awesome people at EdgeCatering (especially you Judy!)

BONCHAZ!

That's all you need to say around here to get people excited. We love this place. Great food, great drinks, and great people. What's not to love? But just incase that doesn't sell you on how great they are, how about that fact that they have kindly offered to donate to our big event! That's right folks, those yummy baked goods, delicious sandwiches, and of course that amazing Vegan Chilli will help us make it through our 24 hour CreateAthon. We need to focus, and we can't do that without the support of great people. We bow to you Bonchaz and thank you for helping us help great people.

Now, if for some strange reason you have never been to this great place go! You can find out more info at http://www.facebook.com/bonchaz or follow them on Twitter @bonchaz, or just pop in for lunch at 426 W Hastings St, Vancouver. You wont be disappointed.

All this Bonchaz talk is making me hungry... avocado and brie sandwich, with vegan chilli? Oh I think so.

Thursday 28 July 2011

CreateAthon is on!

CreateAthon is a go!

Great news: Flipside Creative has partnered with Createathon, a continent-wide initiative that sees agencies across North America provide registered charities with 24 hours of free -- yes, FREE -- creative.

From 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15 to 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, Flipside will be designing, writing, creating, concepting, and more for charity. And we can’t wait. This is the kind of work we live and breathe for. This is the warm and fuzzy that reminds us why we love what we do. Like REALLY love.

How do you get involved?
Easy. Click here and download our application form. Print it. Fill it out. And email or snail-mail it back to us no later than August 15, 2011. We’ll review all of the entries, select as many as possible, notify the winners, and get to work!

Before our actual Createathon event, we’re going to need to meet with you and your team, author a creative brief, and get an indepth understanding of your charity and your needs. After all, the more info we have, the better and more bang on the creative we deliver during Createathon will be.

No matter what you need, our tiny team of talented designers, writers, photographers, videographers, and more can pull it off. Logos, websites, brochures, posters, tshirts, and more. Tell us what you need. And we will do our best to deliver.

Why are we doing this?
Uhm... why wouldn’t we do this? Being creative is our passion. Getting paid to do it is a privilege and just plain good luck. Donating it to charities who need it most is the kind of stuff full hearts and proud careers are made of.

In the coming weeks, we’ll introduce you to our team and the talented folks who are donating their time and talent to make local charities shine.

Hope to speak with you soon!

Flipside Team. :)
